Rexburg Electrical / Building Inspector II

ELECTRICAL/BUILDING INSPECTOR II: $23.12 TO $26.00 per hour DOE. Full Benefits. The Electrical/Building Inspector II will review construction plans; perform residential electrical and building inspections, and commercial electrical inspections to ensure that construction is completed according to plans, ordinances, and codes. Minimum Qualifications: Four years’ experience as a State of Idaho Licensed Journeyman Electrician, Knowledge and skills pertaining to the current National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), Broad knowledge of electrical systems, Must possess a valid Idaho driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and skills pertaining to the current International Fire Code (IFC), and the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72), General Electrical Inspectors Certification - International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) (or be able to pass within 6 months of hire date), Certified Residential Building Inspector Certification (International Code Council) (or be able to pass within 6 months of hire date). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures involved in construction, installation, maintenance, and operation of a variety of complex electrical installations, equipment, and appliances; thorough knowledge of municipal electrical code, uniform codes and regulations; thorough knowledge of possible defects and faults in electrical wiring and appliances; thorough knowledge of standard testing procedures and devices and effective corrective measures; considerable knowledge of City geography; some knowledge of report writing; some knowledge of standard office procedures and maintenance. Journeyman skills in electrical wiring and installations. Ability to detect and locate defective electrical wiring and construction; ability to ascertain state of construction and installation when defects are most easily found and remedied; ability to read and interpret complex blue prints and plan specifications; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with professional contractors, local merchants, City Officials, Supervisors, and the public.
